Damn, I knew I needed someone more organised :P Although to be fair it's him that put that "year and a bit" time line on and worked out how to get that joint account going for all the visa shit and other crap we need to apply for.
I was rather annoyed when we found out that even if I got married to him while in the States, I wouldn't qualify as a citizen and could still be deported, however if I got married while not there on a legal visa, it would count. It's not as simple as that but it was a rather infuriating thing to be told by the scary immigration people.
