I quite want to webcast my wedding so my friends/family who aren't able to make it can watch proceedings...

In the UK, we have a number of pay-as-you-go telecoms companies that have an "all you can eat" data plan, ie, T-Mobile where you pay £2 and get as much data as you can use for the day you paid.

[edit]: It's not that I need gigabytes, but if I was paying per meg, it might get costly. I don't need much throughput, but I don't want to be worrying about the bill at the end of the day, ideally. it's only going to be broadcasting a webcam.

Is there anything comparable in the US?

Kirsten's netbook has a 3g modem built in, we just need an appropriate SIM and data plan.
