I just stopped running Zone Alarm Pro and turned my auto-virus protection off as a last ditch attempt to see if they're causing my modem to drop now I've moved it to another computer...

I know that I'm drastically less secure now, and will be looking for an alternative if this turns out to be what was wrong (for alternative, actually read 'a box running linux'), but FUCK ME... for the first time since I got broadband, my computer actually feels like it's pulling shit down at the speed it SHOULD!

Fucking STUPID fucking windows-based approaches to security...

GAH.

Also, I'm having bad techno-juju - keep away from me unless you want the mech-lurgy, it would seem.

DeathBoy Patent "Twice-Boiled(tm)" Coffee

How to make:

* Go downstairs in pants, seeking Perk

* Wince at having only drunk one mug of the big jug of coffee you made yesterday and thank God someone turned the machine off so it didn't burn the house down

* Open Coffee Machine, remove filter

* Clean filter. Badly.

* Take out jug, fill with water.

* Pour water into coffee machine.

* Close and activate coffee machine.

* Go and IRC for several hours, feeling tired and being sure there was something you meant to do about that.

* Return to kitchen on random journey, notice coffee jug full of boiled water due to missing out the "add more coffee" step

* Pour some of the water away, then think "Fuck it" and top the water back up and pour back into coffee machine (this is our Patent Twice-Boiled(tm) stage)

* Forget to be cautious while pouring, as the water is near scalding still. Burn self.

* ADD COFFEE THIS TIME

* Close and activate machine.

* Go in bath, completely forgetting coffee until tomorrow.
