MSNBC has "Got Him - Now What?"

... the Times says: "Captured Al-Qaeda kingpin is case of mistaken identity".

Smirking Chimp goes so far as to quote: "A former close associate of Osama Bin Laden now living in London laughed -- 'What I remember of him is he used to make the coffee and do the photocopying.'" - but then it's not entirely unbiased.

Still, don't fret. You may now crack a beer and feel good about your boys dying out in the desert because someone with a beard (not the right someone, but he sure does have a beard) has been "caught".

Just brought myself screaming into the right century with my first DVD writer purchase.

For thirty notes, I can't really complain.

Uses my old software (Nero), cuts a disc the same way, just with a greater capacity, and the media is (on bulk purchases) barely more expensive.

I can't remember exactly why I waited so long, actually. I think horror stories from early adopters, of the same kind of "this brand media doesn't work with this type of player" scared me off a bit, but this has been a pint of piss.

Now I don't need to erase half my porn every time my hard drive fills up.

Attention Pillheads! Ecstacy prevents Cancer!

Well, ok, not quite ... amusing, though. I want my anti-cancer trait, godfuckendamnit.

Today has been perplexing.

I have done some work (code).

I have attended An Meeting (code-orientated) which was neither too bad, nor lasted too long.

I have installed New Toys.

And those lovely people at See Tickets have sent me two extra Nine Inch Nails tickets.

Checking my email and my credit card statements, no, they didn't bill me, but they do think they owe me them.

The first pair, carrying the order number on the only one email I had registering my purchase, they claimed to demand the tickets were signed for and ID must be presented, which I can only assume means that my (differently surnamed) girlfriend (ie not Liz Lamb... yet) must have been able to provide ID in the form of the dressing gown she wore while answering the door at 8am on a saturday. Because they didn't ask for anything else.

So, I have one pair of tickets they shouldn't have sent me that I did sign for (with ID). One pair they should have that someone other than me signed for and wasn't asked for ID. One email confirming purchase. Two emails apologising for the lateness of delivery (with different IDs).

I think I just got 50 quid's worth of NIN tickets for free, but I'm half-expecting them to phone me up and suggest otherwise.

Now I must find two people willing to chip in towards drastically reduced tickets to Have Drinks With Me (and see NIN).

This evening has also been characterised by lots of rushing around to sort out An Special Project, with Wor Jase performing admirably, like the stalwart bastard he is, and everything seems to be roughly achieved.

And I've only drunk 1/4 of a bottle of vodka, so, as I'm all finished now, I can get pleasantly smashed on the remaining 1/4 without upsetting anyone.

So where's the fucking catch?
