Transsexuals 'to get 2 ID cards'

Transsexuals who have yet to have a sex-change operation will be entitled to two ID cards, Home Office Minister Lady Scotland of Asthal has said.

One would be in their gender at birth and the other in their legally-acquired "gender of designation".

So, this isn't something that could be changed via the data on the card / the readers / the database / in software? Surely we're not that short on bits to represent gender? :)

Having more ID cards than people in the system sounds like a ropey state of play. Sod forging 'em, hang out at TS bars, nick their 'spares'.

Some of the TS girls I know work in embedded systems. I half expect to see 'em annoyed with the inefficiency and upgrade 'em themselves.

I am ill.

I don't succumb to flu, colds, coughs, sore-throats, infections, disease, etc, particularly often as I cannot be destroyed by conventional weaponry, but quite at random (was fine yesterday), they seem to have all hit me at once.

So I'm off my feet, listening to comedy, lying in the dark, mostly.
