Oh, bollocks.
In discussion with the Jehova's Witnesses, because I'm so hungover that I couldn't make the effort to be more conciliatory, I just VERY thoroughly defended my opinions regarding science vs religion and the nature of the universe (and I do mean by logic and argument, not by being arsey).
To the point that I'm now hoping they come back and don't give me up as a lost cause :P We pretty much covered all the major subjects, Shem proffered a very reasonable but hackneyed arguments (to me, anyways - this stuff matters to me so I've done my homework and thus heard it all before), which I embarrassingly had no problem rattling off counter-arguments to.
I was rather better prepared and I think I was expected to run with them a bit more than I did because I've been more amenable in the past. The positions rapidly fell back toward the direction of "but it just feels like there must be more - don't you feel that way?" "nope. happy with it how it is!" and ending in a sort of olive branch offering that accepting religion doesn't mean you have to renounce science.
I feel a bit of a cunt, now, I hope they don't feel like they've been wasting their time and not come back. I've actually been enjoying learning so much about the Bible (even if I don't accept it as what it purports to be).
Next week, I shall read scripture with them and argue a bit less to make up for it.
