FUCK
Some GOOD luck for a change!
Liz found a place that she looked at yesterday, where the agency were not scumbags, the place is the right size, good condition, the lower end of the price range, basically ideal.
Some other people were looking, too, so we agreed she ought to phone first damned thing in the morning, as soon as the letting agents opened for business.
She did so, and was told that it was available, but it was literally down to who could take her the holding deposit first.
Liz takes friday off work to spend with Corben... so she was in to the bank, then off to the letting agents immediately... and got the fucking place.
We're not quite home and dry, yet, but it's sounding pretty promising.
They sound sympathetic to single-parent mothers (in fact, the agent Liz was dealing with said that she had been in entirely the same boat) and are apparently being pretty accommodating - they have no problem with the fact that Liz's income isn't high enough for their requirements, so long as she can get a solid guarantor.
I earn enough to pick that up, and my credit should be good, so we're going to try that... if that doesn't work, we can try my parents, maybe. To be honest, that should only be a matter of logistics.
A slight worry is the previous landlord reference... the woman who owns this place has recently gone from being quite nice to a real bitch. But we've never defaulted on payments and haven't wrecked the joint, so I'm not sure what she could say that would queer the deal, really.
I suspect that if they thought Liz would be trouble, they would just ask for an increased deposit, and frankly, we have that shit covered. We're not short on cash particularly, just short on being able to show it to the standards that are demanded, now that we're separated.
Anyway, cross your motherfucking everything for us, because if she gets this house, that makes all of our lives massively easier for the next year.
This sort of news always comes when I was going to have a lie-in...
