Haven't finished writing up my america funs, but I need to ask this ASAP to maximise the chance of getting some much-needed assistance...

They say friends will help you move house, good friends will help you move a body... they haven't seen how much junk I have...

I really, seriously, could use an assist from someone with a car, ideally speaking this weekend.

I have this weekend and next to move out of my house. This is going to mean a number of trips within Enfield (10min car journeys), maybe a few to the dump (20 min journeys), and a medium-but-not-insane amount of help carrying things.

If any of my mates that are London-based, or nearish could give up a day or evening this friday, saturday or sunday, or next friday, saturday or sunday, please get in touch, I'm in real need.

I may move the "take-my-stuff!" party from this friday to next if I can get moved out this weekend.

I'm prepared to weigh in anyone who gives up a day or two of their weekend for me (and obviously, cover petrol money) - booze / favours / cold hard sterling.

So yup, if you have a car (I could probably rent a vehicle if you can drive but have no wheels, but would rather not) and fancy my undying love, please drop me a line. I'm back in the country on wednesday morning, but i'll have email / SMS / etc.

I hate being unable to do this myself, and it's my own fault for being a filthy non-driver, but this is one of those times when I need to hit up my support network.

If you can be the life-saver in question, please give me a poke.

Thanks, guys!

[edit]: back-story, to avoid confusion: my ex-partner and I are moving out of the house we shared (she just moved out last week while I was away, and I must also, by the end of the month). I'm staying in the same town, near Corben and his mom, as I'm still going to be taking care of him in the day just like I have been so far. I'm not fleeing to the US or anything (Kirsten's hoping to move here in due course) ;)

Back to the chronicals!

Saturday evening, after going to the gardens, we headed into Grand Rapids proper to stay in a rather swanky room in the Marriott, with a view of the Grand River. As we entered, there were some rather funky breakbeats kicking in the entrance / reception area... which I soon discovered were being PLAYED OUT BY A DJ IN A FUCKING TUXEDO. You know, just stood there, mixing tracks while people checked in. As you do. ("Yo, dawg, I herd u like DJs, so we put a DJ in a DJ in ur reception, so u can chill while u chill").

Upon entering the room, we spent about five minutes looking for the light switch, before realising that there was in fact no overhead light system and was filled with all sorts of lamps. Including goose-neck spotlights to illuminate the artwork assembled above the bed. You know, I'd have gone literally insane if we didn't have those lights.

We watched Ghost Town, and I was startled by Ricky Gervais not being a cringy bastard (love his stand-up, cannot abide the Office, mixed on Extras), and ate delicious foods. Kirsten had ordered a "romance package" to come with the room, which contained some very tasty chocolate-dipped strawberries and some champagne.

However, we had previously got completely shit-faced at the party and didn't feel like booze, so instead we replaced the bubbly with some GENERIC GREEN FRUIT DRINK from Meijer :D

As you are no-doubt thinking, we are one extremely classy duo :)
