What a bizarre thing to say. Fruity loops isn't an instrument, but sequencer, and can sequence (arbitrary) samples, so can make pretty much any break that any other sequencer can. It has no characteristic sound. I assume you're referring to the sparse, clearly step-sequenced, cut-off nature of the breaks.

FYI, I used Battery 2 (under Cubase), with a couple of kits from the Native Instruments Synthetic Drums 2

The semi-poppy 2-step sound of the main break, and the stop+restart triggering of the brief 2nd break are both quite deliberately not my usual style. I don't think I'd be going too far to say that I know a couple of things about breakbeats. If I'd wanted criticism, I'd put it on a site for musicians.

I wasn't in fact asking for analysis. The deal is generally that I put out tracks, they're free, if you like 'em, awesome, if you don't... well, they're free.

Asking for feedback has many, many drawbacks - the taste, knowledge, communication ability and (sometimes, unpleasantly) prejudice of the respondant make it futile.

I just thought it was a bit arse that people who did like it couldn't be arsed with just saying "nice one". 's all I ask.

I think it's probably just media saturation. I'm not exactly going to stop writing music... but seeing about 100 downloads and getting 2 comments was a bit of a kick in the cock. Not so much worried that people don't like the stuff, but felt a bit demoralised at how little people can be arsed to do these days.
