Lying in bed with a mild hangover, body clock seemingly reset to UK time (god, yesterday felt awful!), watching Winnie the Pooh, with my boy cuddled up next to me, scoffing rice cakes.

Life is pretty sweet.

Helen and I are having a little party/bbq on the 4th of July. You're invited.

Since you are marrying a Yank, it would be good for you to experience the manner in which we celebrate the day we decided to shrug off the monstrous, unbearable yoke of English tyranny forever.

The irony of doing it on English soil makes me happy.

I'd invite you by text, but it'd be too hard to type all of this.

We will provide burgers and hot dogs (actually English sausages, since I can't stand hot dogs) etc, all you gotta do is show up with whatever you are gonna be drinking.

Probably somewhere between 10-15 people.

Sorry, Bud but so many people cancelled for the 4th in the past week that calling it a "Party" would have been kinda sad. You might as well unmark your calendar.

I guess we'll have to go back to Plan A (meeting over pints at some point in the not too distant future).

The pub parts easy. There are a good half-dozen pubs in my area that i like enough to think of as my "local" (what kinda joint do you feel most comfortable in? old-time boozer? Modern bar with dj? Casual couch-strewn affair? Packed to the gills like "The Ten Bells" or small tucked away, like the former Kray joint, "The Carpenter's Arms"?), but nights are a little more restricted.

Friday Saturday and Sunday nights are bet. Weekdays not so much.
