Back from Lee's place with a CD clutched in my grubby hands (well, metaphorically, in reality, I have a bunch of WAVs on my grubby hard drive)... now I've "just" got to get the artwork sorted and do the final mastering on't' stuff and we'll be in with a fighting chance of hitting the deadline for Whitby.

Weekend rehearsals went well, so the gig at the end of the month should be a grin, too :)

Oh yih... I think I mentioned this to someone else (quite possibly Lee) and was faintly surprised that they didn't know - I regularly listen to BBC radio over the net (go here and click on "launch radio player" from the big button at the top) - apart from anything else, they've got a comedy section that's updated weekly.

Admittedly, it's all streaming real-audio, but (speshly if, like me, you're not adverse to leaving your sampler package recording as you listen), you can get loads of really good stuff off there. Well worth checking out (... even more so if you're paying your UK license fee to fund the damn channels).

The BBC also used to do Ogg Vorbis streams, which was great, cause you didn't have to use RealSpyOnMeAndSpamMeToDeathPlayer at all....

99p challenge is v.g at the moment. And even Just a Minute was OK this weekend, as it largely consisted of Bill Bailey having a go at Nicholas Parsons, which made me most happy indeed.... :-)

And being able to catch up with the Archers is an absolute life essential...

I'm pretty convinced that when the BBC killed the perennially brilliant GLR and turned it into Londumb Live they packaged up the corpse and de-fibrillated it back into life as Radio 6..

Shame about the RealPlayer streams though - especially as you don't seem to be able to get the 'Basic' version anymore.

plugins. ho ho ho.

freefilter and izotope ozone, mostly, mate.

any suggestions?

currently, I'm A/Bing with tracks I like the EQ on, using freefilter to learn to the EQ, setting a decent morph level, then once the EQ's right, maximising with ozone.

hey scott .

well i would 101% totally recomend an external standalone unit for mastering anything you might be putting out on general release . a good option would be the TC ELECTRONIC FINALIZER . you can rent one of those for maybe £20 - £25 a day - and a day would be pretty much all you would need if you use a the wizard feature . it really will be money well spent .

if you gotta do it with a PC - i would probably use something as basic as T-RACKS version 2 or later .

good luck with it all . if you get a chance - let me know what you finally went with for mastering . / Mk .

lawks... that totally *does* look the business (the finalizer, that is) - unfortunately, I've got about a fucking *day* to sort my shit out, so I'm prolly going to have to go the plugin route. I'll take a look at T-Racks, too, mind.

cheers, man - I'll let you know how it works out.
