Watched "Bowling for Columbine" last night.

One of the many things that stuck in my head was Marilyn Manson, interviewed on the subject of the Columbine 'Situation'.

"If you could say one thing to the children of Columbine, what would it be?"

straight off the bat... no pause, so quick it affirms that this really is what hit his head when asked:

"I wouldn't say a thing. I'd listen to what they had to say. Because that's what no-one ever did."

Yih. I like that man a lot, despite the cackness of his recent music.

He's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for.

kickarse.

speshly the whole fucking point that the USA has nothing over the rest of the world in terms of guns sold, violent history, NOTHING else.

cept they have a society of fear.

and they kill each other.

far, FAR more than anyone else in ANY comparable situation.

God Bless the US of A.

Oh, and I'd like to skullfuck Charlton Heston.

i think moore did a really good job at proving that there is something really wrong with a nation based on fear. his tactics are a bit overated, but he does make his point eventually.

heston is a man to be despised even if only for his timing. commence the skull fucking.

This post by [livejournal.com profile] electrolyte critiques that article far better than I could. So I'll just point at it and say, "What she says."

And I wouldnt trust the length of pause given the slick editing they did on Charlton Hestons speach.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I like the fact that there is a high profile man in the US suggesting a bit of common sense. Fair play that man.

I've not seen the film yet, though I did see a clip of the Manson interview and reached the same conclusions you did.
I've seen him interviewed a few times and been (a little reluctantly) impressed by him. *g*

I really like Mr. Manson in that movie, he is one of the very few sane voices in it, that don't go to either extreme. I like the man more than his music these days.

It's a fantastic film, isn't it?

It really made me think, particularly how many gun crimes there were in America per year, compared to other countries (Canada in particular).

Er, sorry, just me tuppence worth :)
