Windows 7 has made me understand Mac users - particularly, [livejournal.com profile] edwards

It does SO MANY THINGS so very well!

So you start to trust it, and you start to think "well, if this £200 piece of hardware doesn't work, maybe, given how well everything else works, I should just buy another £200 piece of hardware with a compatability stamp on it!"

NO NO NO NO NO

i am not happy.

i had a number of niggles that i could have solved with £50 - £100 of new hardware which I NOW CANNOT AFFORD because SOMEONE STOLE A FUCKING £400 PRAM FROM MY DRIVE so now frankly, it's back to YOU THERE, OPERATING SYSTEM, YOU VERY MUCH SHALL BEND TO MY WILL YOU CUNT.

breathe.

breathe, scott.

Windows 7 is all very well, it boots quickly, it has accepted all of my hardware EXCEPT MY SOUND CARD painlessly, I'm even getting used to its file browser, but UP WITH THIS I WILL NOT PUT.

I like the ... searchiness.

I like that I really can type the name of the thing I'm looking for faster than searching through submenus. I'm frankly amazed that non-geeks might like this, but fuck them. It's like they took a geek productivity tool and made it the default. My dad's going to have to reach for his keyboard for the first time in years.

But this IRQ multiplexing, and this fisting of the performance of my multi-hundred-pound sound-card...

No.

I am simply going to have to kill every single last person on the entire fucking planet, because I am fed up with this shit.

There were no locked filing cabinets, no missing stairs, no BEWARE OF THE LEOPARD.

You all had plenty of time to simply ADJUST REALITY SO THAT WHEN I GET A FEW SCANT HOURS TO GET DRUNK I DON'T HAVE TO SPEND THEM FIXING MY FUCKING COMPUTER SO THAT I CAN MAKE MUSIC.

And you failed.

And the bug-eyed monster is green, yes.
