Well, actually, I use a fucking bargain basement setup...

1 x soundblaster Live! card
1 x cheap midi input keyboard
1 x cheap mic (comes with card.)

but I *do* use a lot of software, i.e.

cubase (to sequence)
rebirth (for acid noises)
soundforge and cool edit (for sample editing)
awe vbank (for patch manipulation for the live!)

... the synths are simply patches I've found or made and then messed with. I've been writing for 11 years, so I have more samples that you've had hot dinners ;) literally ;)

tell me what you have (either money and or existing kit) and I'll see if I can give my stupid advice ;)

ah, fabulous, i myself was planning on a bargain setup anyway, heh. i'd been using acid music as of late, but it's just...not right for me, blah.

as of now i'm the jobless wonder, so i've really got no budget until i get a callback and such. i've got about 100 quid saved...which all goes towards christmas...damn christmas :P

ah well, i'll most likely be looking to shop for synths after christmas, i'll let you know of my budget by then, thanks though :D
