Help, please!

At the moment, we're having hassle nailing down guaranteed gigs around our Toronto date - there's some in the offing, but we're terribly fucking cautious about winding up playing 8 gigs all over the place and winding up *losing money* in the process.

As a result, we *might* just be playing Toronto, possibly Montreal.

This is where I could use some help:

If you're based in Canada, or in the right part of the states to be travel-able from Toronto (without a three day greyhound...), and know GOOD contacts at clubs that might be interested in taking on Goteki and DeathBoy around August 26th -> September 9th, PLEASE drop me a line either here or via email.

Naturally, if you can help sort out a gig, there'll be goodies / guestlisting for you and yours :)

What I need is contact details for promoters / DJs / event organisers / venues for the right sort of crowd that are not adverse to offering an actual fee for the night rather than "whatever the patrons leave in a sock next to the bar".

So, drop me a line, please... we need yer :)

I've got LJ Friends from the US and Canada - do you mind if I pass your request on to them?

I don't know if the US is out of scope - but Toronto to New York isn't really that far ....

Anywhere around North-Eastern US would rule, and we're talking anywhere from Chicago to NYC really.. anywhere that we can get to for not much money that'll have us :)

Sadly, I'm on the wrong end of the US, off in the Northwest. I could get you contact info for a promoter or two in Seattle, but I don't think anyone could claim that that's within a day or two's Greyhound ride from Toronto...

Are you looking for just Canada dates, or can you sneak into the US?

I don't know anyone booking off hand, but I will ask some people I know, who would know, the moment they let me know I'll let you know...

It's who you know...

teknoirangel passed this link on to me. I am a rave promoter in Toronto and throw monthly events. However, since we only do psytrance shows you guys wouldnt fit our crowd's expectation. HOWEVER I recommend talking to dj lazarus (djlazarus.com). He throws a monthly event called DarkRave which is all dark electronic music (goa, ebm, gabber, drum and bass, industrial, etc).

He occasionally has bands play (VnV nation, malhavoc, etc) and might be interested in booking you guys. He also recently went in on a club venture with some other people so he has his own place just a block away from the darkrave venue.

The darkrave venue (as well as the venue i use for my events) is the upstairs area of the kathedral that someone else posted. the building complex is called "The Big Bop" (http://thebigbop.com/)

It's a good space and dark rave is quite popular. I've never really worked with lazarus on any event so I don't know what his booking procedures are like but it would be worth a shot contacting him. If you just want to rent and promote your own show the big bop is still a good venue as is lazarus' new place "FunHaus" (formerly ZEN lounge).

feel free to email me for more info on toronto venue's and stuff. I'd like to see goteki so i'm happy to help :D

FYI, for those who are offering info, Toronto is where both bands already have a confirmed gig.

www.catalyst-toronto.com

Right upstairs from the Kathedral in fact. :-)

What I need is contact details for promoters / DJs / event organisers / venues for the right sort of crowd that are not adverse to offering an actual fee for the night

That seems to be the sticking point right there. :-p

hmmm, wierd. i checked that site and it says that the event is being held on the last weekend of the month at reverb/holy joes, while my event, R351570R is always on the last saturday of the month at reverb/holyjoes/backstage lounge... so unless we changed our event to the 4th saturday, rather than the last saturday, there might be a schedule conflict. i shall look into it.

double checked the calender and we are the fourth so it's all good. that coulda been bad :) i find it unlikely that we'd get bumped but no matter.
