Another one of those lovely sunny days.

I've decided to remind myself that I can make some quite beautiful things that aren't all spit and bile by rounding up some of the more trancey/techno/uplifting tracks that I've done over the years and putting them into a compilation that suits being listened to on a sunny Friday afternoon :)

01 - Chlorine (2005)
02 - Beautiful Skies (2003)
03 - No Control (2000)
04 - Lose Me (1999)
05 - Let Me Show You (2004)
06 - Micronaut (2006)
07 - Clean (1999)
08 - Shallowmind (2004)
09 - All Inside Me (1999)
10 - Synthetic (2000)
11 - Sunriser (2007)
12 - Two to the Power (1999)
13 - Anuism (2006)
14 - Remembering (Water) (2000)
15 - Where Did You Hear It? (1993)

or, a ZIP of the whole lot (~98mb)

If you like, feel free to distribute (either links, or the mp3s, or hey, cut a friend a CD). If you don't, stuff ya :)

These tracks are (as you can see) scattered from over the last decade, with the last track being one I made when I was 16 on an Amiga, recovered from tape. They vary is genre and quality, but are ones that put me in a good mood.

And I don't sing! On any of them! JOY!

See? I'm not that vile inside, really. :)

Funny thing, I've been wondering how my label mates manage to come up with such miserable tunes.

Most people... when you listen to a miserable tune, it cheers you up, because you think, there is some other poor bastard who's got it at least as bad as me. But by the same token, I don't understand how miserable tunes get made... because I've tried it and frankly, when you hear yourself singing about something miserable, it doesn't really cheer you up. It's just yourself being just as miserable as you are now, two weeks ago. Which isn't very uplifting.

So there's little incentive to go back and work on your miserable tunes some more.

I guess, Scott, you get away with it usually by writing tunes in a single hit, single long session, and not having to go back and think, crikey! I was just as miserable last week as this morning!

But anyway, maybe it will do you more good for you to have a compilation of your own cheer up tracks than it does for us. But those of us that aren't evil won't begrudge you that.

dunno, man. for me, writing a good, hateful / angry / sad tune is like putting the demons in a box.

they're out of my head and they're stuck down now, in the song. the act of analysis by writing and later, listening to the song, takes some of the bad feeling out of my head and makes something at least vaguely useful out of it.

but sometimes i like to think that i have something more pleasant in my head, too, hence the compilation. :)
