remix pack

Don't know if anyone's interested, but I knocked up a simple remix pack for Machine Gun.

I've been threatening to "open source" my tracks for ages (which on a practical level just means making mix packs for them). I quite like the idea of having an album with mix packs for each and every track available, so that's a goal for the current one.

They're only 128kbps mp3s, which is hardly top-flight in the quality stakes, but bearing in mind each pack's gonna turn out to be about 20-30mb, that should be usable and not kill the server. Also, it's hardly the most complex of tracks, but that's why it was easy for me to be bothered to make the remix pack. Hurrah.

On the one hand, this probably removes any of the tiny remaining glamour anyone might have about the quality of my singing / musical abilities (easy to hide in a mix, hard to ignore when you hear the bits seperately), but fortunately, I don't care much about that; the creation process, and the idea of spawning more music in some way is where I get my kicks.

Anyway...

Anyone's welcome to use any part of this for any purpose they like whatsoever. I will, at some point, dig out the relevant Creative Commons license, but as I'm not actually bothered about protecting any of my rights, I can't be arsed right now.

More importantly, if you make something fun, let me know. Share and enjoy!

also noticed, you exported the whole track, i see alot of repeat riffs, just chop those into higher quality wavs :) thats what i do and my remix kits end up being like 40mb, thats 24bit wav too :)

good point, but that's more effort than I can be arsed with.

You're more than welcome to throw us the mix packs, but I can't make any promises simply because since the baby, my "creative" time (drinking and musiccing) is VERY limited (hence the sparse tracks and the lack of time to make really robust mixpacks). but aye, mail us / drop us a URL / etc :)

Jesus, I thought you were about to say that you knocked up somone, cuz that's the only phrasing we use "knocked up" for here in Canada! Ha, ha! Well good then. *giggle*

And have you heard the God Warrior mix?

that's not true. i'm Canadian, and i'm totally familiar with "knocked up" as meaning "built" or "put together" too.

Nice idea!!!

I reckon you should make a really silly track including Corben, sample weird little baby noises and gurgling giggles etc, then mix them up and make a simple silly tune that he'll loathe you for when he's a teenager! Doing that means you are keeping an eye on him at the same time as borrowing his talent, then when it's Liz's turn, you can mix it up... Aww, go on...

As I'm a shite musician and prefer other things, I plan on making Kaya a tool for art - shall paint using her hands and feet and such. She'll be an *ahem* colourful bebbe...

*imagines rolling her in pink paint then rolling her across a large piece of floor sized paper... until SS cotton on!*

nice idea too, laying the creative process bare so to speak... I may copy you and do the same with some LH songs..

did you consider including a midi file?
i would be very grateful for it.

not really, mate. I mean, what would you want one for? it'd be useless.

well i always use midi file when remixing, i find that i can do better things that way than using audio files. i only keep the vocals usually.

There's nothing in there that couldn't be re-played-in in less time than it would take to create the midi file. Anything interesting is done with plugins. if it doesn't take forever, I'll see what I can do, but it'll be of little use to you.
