Cycle and Phase

coo... there's a track name / idea...
'Read Perf's comment about adjusting his phase for work, etc, something I'm painfully aware of...
I seem to be fighting a constant battle just to keep my work-hours starting at lunch-time, let alone making any headway towards my goal of getting back into phase with the rest of the working world.
I know staying up till late mucking about on the net and / or writing music doesn't help (nor does drinking, as it makes me like a walking sloth-creature the next day), but I really can't seem to get a hold on it.
Woke up 8am the past two days... monday, I got up and about until about 1... then had a nap until 2, then carried on until about 5, then had to have another nap, I was that tired.
Today, I ate my toast, said allo to a few people on IRC (from my bed) and immediately fell back to sleep until 12pm.
SO, for now, rather than worrying about getting up early, I'm going to make an effort to be in bed for midnight at the *latest*, so that my two-hour reading-in-bed-habit only drags on till 2am. If I can do that for a few weeks, then I'm going to try the getting-up-earlier thing again.
If anyone has any habits / tricks / magical drugs of splendour (other than club-drugs, caffeine and taurine) they want to recommend for making you wake up and STAY awake in the morning, then please do comment...

Date: 2003-01-07 05:54 am (UTC)I suppose on that front, the sensible line would be to mix with orange when *not* writing music.
as for nyquil... I'm not sure it's legal to import that BIG FUCKING Q, but I might ask on LJ... muahaha

Date: 2003-01-07 05:57 am (UTC)You could also try knocking together a white Russian as opposed to Vodka n Orange, if that doesn't dent your hardman rock image too much ;)
And of course, a key thing is that if you sleep more at night (but fail to get track done), you will get up earlier, feel better, get your work done quicker and then have more time (earlier in the evening) to work on track or tracks.

Date: 2003-01-07 06:08 am (UTC)No matter what time I wake up / go to bed / kick the dog, I only become producive after about 2pm. I've always been nocturnal - since toddlerhood. Parents eventually gave up punishing me for catching me awake after 3am on school nights.
I truly think it's got something to do with fucked hormones or some imbalance somewhere. But that's what makes us brilliant, innit :)
