Date: 2005-02-19 04:31 pm (UTC)the reason cannibalism in any form is taboo is entirely down to the risk of infect from the same species, so drinking blood (especially with AIDS out there) is an absolute fool's gambit.
if you use someone else's blood for a transfusion, etc, there's a screening process that _should_ catch any problems. obviously, that doesn't always work.
so yeah, if we regularly ate human-derivative products, we'd risk helping suitable diseases develop and mutate a lot quicker.
