Y'know, two American friends have mentioned to me about the new "foiled terrorist attack" in London (some lame car-bomb).

Absolutely no British people I've spoken to today have mentioned it in the least.

Seriously. We just couldn't give a fuck.

That's how you fight "terror".

What can I say? I get paid to explain this stuff... and, on a few very fun occasions, to play a period Loyalist. It's the greatest joy in the world to walk in on some folk who have all these solemn notions about economic oppression and be like "So, the tax on tea... the one you hate... you realize, at three pennies a pound... if you drank a gallon of tea a day, every day, for a year... y'd have paid a round Continental Dollar in tax by the end, right? And, y'know, back in London... home of the 'oppressor'... same tea's got an 18 pence tax... yeah, six times higher. Are you so all-fired sure y'really want representation, then?"

The faces... so classic. The Loyalists had all the good arguments in the early years.

... and on an unrelated note, now I'm tempted to start a Colonial_Macros community... Take some shots of the Tea Party... "I'm on ur ship, tossin' ur tea!"... Take a painting of the signing, use the "Three pennies? STFU, Parlamint!"

It'd be glorious.
